TYPES OF BUSINESS

To obtain this license, one must meet the following requirements:

National Industrial License

  1. They must register the company with the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) and own at least 51 percent of the company's shares.

  2. A minimum of 40% of manufacturing processes should take place in the free zone. Duty-free customs fees to member states of the Arab Gulf Cooperation Council are available to businesses with a National Industrial License.

Trading License

This license is issued to businesses that engage in trading activities in Ajman. In the United Arab Emirates, trade includes the import, export, and re-export of goods and services.


Industrial License

Any foreign, UAE, or free zone entity carrying out manufacturing activity in Ajman is granted this type of business license.

Professional/Service License

Any UAE, foreign, or free zone entity interested in providing professional/service license activities in Ajman is granted this type of business license.

E-Commerce License

A new license level for e-commerce businesses is the e-commerce license. It will make it easier for online business owners to form partnerships with the free zone to tap into the region's and GCC's growing e-commerce markets. With around 42 percent of the population reportedly conducting online transactions, Ajman and the UAE offer excellent opportunities for E-commerce businesses.

General Maintenance License

A General Maintenance License is required for anyone who wants to start a maintenance business in the Emirate. Having this license allows individuals working in the maintenance industry to make repairs and perform routine maintenance to keep buildings in good working order.

PROCEDURE

The following steps can be taken to start a business in Ajman:

  1. For initial approval, submit a company application form to the municipality's Customer Services Center.

  2. Confirm the chosen business location with the Inspection Unit of the municipality of Ajman.

  3. If necessary, seek approval from the municipality's specialized departments.

  4. Obtain approval for the trade name, as well as the registration of a business and the issuance of a membership certificate.

  5. Submit all necessary approvals, as well as receipts from the Ministry of Trade as proof of acceptance into the Companies Register.

  6. To obtain a receipt, pay all fees and apply to the Customer Services Centre. The license for your company would take one day to obtain.

DOCUMENTS REQUIRED

The registration procedure is straightforward, and a specific set of documents is required:

  1. A valid copy of the passport of the company shareholders

  2. Proof of residence of the company owner

  3. Memorandum of association

  4. Article of association

  5. Duly filled application for incorporation of an offshore account

  6. Bank reference letter

  7. Resume of the owner of the offshore account

  8. Business plan with cost-benefit analysis
