DUBAI IMPORTS
Importing entails importing or obtaining products from outside the UAE's borders, from a foreign country, or some other Emirates province, while adhering to all legal procedures, documentation, permits, charges, and licensing terms. Anyone can become an importer and register with the Customs Department by obtaining a trade license from the UAE license issuing authority.
PROCEDURE FOR IMPORTING GOODS
When the ship arrives, the importer must go to the shipping agent and hand over the initial Bill of Lading as well as pay any dues (if any). A Delivery Order will then be issued by the shipping company.

By logging into the Vessel Enquiry e-service and using the Container Enquiry e-service, the importer can verify the vessel arrival status and the container discharge status online. Following the discharge of the container, the importer can use Dubai Trade's hauler Nomination service to select a transport company to accept delivery of the cargo/container on the importer's behalf from DP World.
For each container taken out of the Jebel Ali port, DP World will issue an Equipment Interchange Receipt (EIR) to the hauler.
If any inspection is needed by the Customs Import Declaration, the hauler must transport the container to the competent authority's inspection area. The hauler will be able to leave the JAFZA only after receiving inspection clearance and presenting a copy of the EIR.
